This photograph shows street vendors selling their goods to boats that have docked at the ports in Singapore. These vendors operated similarly with ‘five-foot-way’ traders who could be seen conducting their businesses along shophouse walkways that were five feet wide. These traders were immigrants of various races who were often found in areas such as Chinatown where they peddled their wares.
