This is one of the two Metcalfe Houses built in the 19th century by Sir Thomas Metcalfe, the last British Resident at the Mughal Court of Bahadur Shah Zafar II. Located in South Delhi in the Qutb Complex and formerly a 16th century Mughal tomb, the house was bought by Metcalfe and refurbished with many rest houses, follies and gardens. He even named the house ‘Dilkhusha’, or ‘Delight of the Heart’ in the Urdu language.
