The 'meiping' (plum vase) is decorated with bands of plantain-leaf motifs, floral sprays with butterflies, a figurative scene and floral motifs. The men hunting on horseback are clearly non-Chinese, judging from their hairstyles and clothes. One shows off his equestrian skills, another is thrown off his horse, while others hunt for fowl in a mountainous landscape. The scene's design conveys a sense of depth, with a foreigner partially emerging from a mountain in the background.
