This wardrobe is decorated with ornate carvings of the qilin and eagle, both of which are auspicious symbols. The style of furniture is of the type favoured by the Peranakan Chinese in Singapore. This style is known amongst Peranakan furniture collectors as 'Brown and Gold' which refers to gilded teak furniture made locally in Singapore in the early 20th century.
