The snake temple in Sungei Kluang, Penang, is a syncretic temple that embraces all three basic religions the Chinese traditionally practise – Buddhism, Taoism and ancestor worship. The large number of snakes that used to fill the temple had been regarded as the disciples of the primary deity, Chu Su Gong, who is said to have healing powers.
