This devotee is having his kavadi adjusted for the foot procession from one temple to another, throughout which he will be accompanied by fellow Hindus giving him support and encouragement. The devotee's spiritual preparations began way before that, however, when he had to live a life of abstinence while adhering to a strict vegetarian diet for an entire month before the festival.
