Royal Calendar (Taqwim-i Sal)

This calendar and almanac is dedicated to Sultan Mahmud I (r.1730-1754) of the Ottoman empire and was part of a waqf (religious endownment) by him and his mother, the Valide Sultan (Saliha Sultan) according to undated registry entries on the first and the last folio. It contains important astronomical and astrological information, as well as advice on auspicious dates. One-year calendars are of great rarity due to their ephemeral nature as they were usually discarded after a year when they were no longer needed.
