Built in the 1960s, the original 10-storey Block 79 which residents nicknamed the “longhouse” was one of the longest residential blocks in Singapore then at 296 metres. Block 79 was announced for the Selective En bloc Redevelopment Scheme (SERS) in 1997 and redeveloped into the five-block Central Horizon in 2003 to cater to new housing needs.

An award-winning development, Central Horizon was offered as a rehousing option for residents as part of SERS. It showcases the evolution in HDB estate amenities, including features such as sky gardens.
