Life becomes peaceful and serene in the later years of one's life. A person no longer needs to rush about for a living. His days are complete with a daily cup of tea, reading the newspaper and having a friendly chat with others.

This photo presents a family-run small provision shop. The mother is busy inside the shop, whilst the son stands in front of a small stall outside the door, smiling and chatting with customers. Groceries, fruits, and stacked plastic baskets create a lively everyday scene. A sincere smile is the most vibrant focal point of the entire picture. This is not just a street photograph, but an observation of intergenerational co-existence and the resilience. Through this picture, the photographer hopes to express the genuine interaction between people and the dignity of hard work. This young man looks to be only in his early twenties, yet he has assumed the role of safeguarding his family's livelihood. His smile reflects a natural warmth. He and his mother form a steady routine of managing the shop. This photo reminds us that the most moving scenery is often not spectacular but present in the ordinary smiles amidst the struggle of daily life.

The cleaner in the park is resting under the tree shade. He shared that his work schedule is 13 days of continuous work with one day off. I recoil at Singapore’s hot weather and further realise how hard his work is under these conditions.

I wanted this scene to be seen because it shows a life attitude not bound by age. The lady in the photo has beautifully colored hair, wears a gold necklace, has shiny accessories on both wrists, brightly colored clothing, and a radiant smile. She lights up an ordinary everyday place like a hawker centre with her distinct personality and radiant confidence. Her dress sense and expression show that elderly people can still possess style and vitality. When she saw me taking photos, she didn't dodge or remain indifferent, but responded warmly with a natural and infectious smile as if to say, “Age is never a limitation, but a qualification - a gain in knowledge and audacity on how to live brilliantly.”

Most middle-aged people are busy with work and find it difficult to spare time to accompany elderly family members at home. The scene of the woman carefully helping the elderly lady select food moved me deeply.

At Clementi Park, I saw this lady earnestly doing her exercises. After finishing her workout, she seemed so full of energy as if she would have no problem pushing over a large tree.

To welcome the Dragon Boat Festival, pre-school educators from Sparkletots and volunteers decorated the walls in the HDB void decks, filling the public spaces with a strong festive atmosphere. Despite continuous progress through time, we still haven't forgotten those traditional festivals that sustain culture and memories.
