Description

Explore the treasures of Joo Chiat, a captivating neighbourhood that has transformed from a former coconut plantation into a living cultural repository. Once an idyllic seaside retreat for Singapore's wealthy elite, this vibrant neighbourhood boasts over 800 beautifully conserved shophouses that showcase the area's multicultural heritage.

Immerse yourself in the neighbourhood's fascinating history as you discover the stories behind its distinctive architecture, vibrant back-alley murals, and beloved community institutions. This cultural journey will take you to the bustling wet market that pays homage to the district's historic lemongrass industry, the Geylang Serai Heritage Gallery, the Eurasian Heritage Gallery, colourful shophouses, and the Church of the Holy Family.

The meeting point is at the entrance of i12 Katong.
