A set of Nanyang Guan Bao newspapers, 1904

This is a set of newspaper issues titled the Nan Yang Guan Bao (南洋官报). These periodicals are the 18th to 20th issue of the newspaper published in 1904 and circulated during the reign of the Guangxu (光绪) emperor. The materials were dubbed as the first official newspaper in China which was circulated with the hope of disseminating the belief of using industrialisation to save China during the late Qing dynasty. Each newspaper issue consisted of around 20 pages and started off initially as a bi-daily publication.
