T-shirt for “The Urgent Run” 2014 by the World Toilet Organization

In 2014, the World Toilet Organization (WTO) launched The Urgent Run to commemorate the recently declared UN World Toilet Day on 19 November and raise awareness about the global sanitation crisis. Sixteen events were held across 12 countries, with the flagship run in Singapore on 9 November.WTO founder Jack Sim brought his signature humour to the campaign through this t-shirt’s witty slogan “I am running because I give a shit” and activities like the "big squat" to show solidarity with the 1 billion people facing open defecation. His advocacy had led Singapore to table the "Sanitation for All" resolution at the UN in July 2013, which was unanimously adopted by all 193 member states, establishing 19 November as UN World Toilet Day.
