Coolness in the Depths of the Mountains (1946) reflects Lim Tze Peng’s early engagement with traditional Chinese ink painting, demonstrating his grasp of classical ink painting techniques and calligraphy. This work is the earliest known Chinese ink painting created by Lim, created upon his return to studies at Chung Cheng High School (Main) after the end of the Second World War.
