Untitled (Vehicle Repair Shop) (c.2015) exemplifies Lim Tze Peng’s distinctive and successful integration of epigraphy, calligraphy and ink painting into a cohesive composition. His interest in the stele category of epigraphy began under his Chinese language teacher Wong Jai Ling at Chung Cheng High School and was later rekindled through his admiration for the 20th-century Chinese ink master Huang Binhong, whose works he studied extensively.
