This map of Singapore was likely used by the former Singapore Tourist Promotion Board (STPB) as a campaign poster to advertise the various attractions and historic neighbourhoods of Singapore. The illustrations around the map show local flora and fauna, as well as some of the traditional and tourist activities that make the country unique and attractive. The Singapore River with its many bumboats and emerging contemporary skyline are placed centre-stage. The map captures Singapore in the process of modernisation, with some of the traditional trades such as letter-writing and snake-charming being advertised as draws for tourists alongside newer attractions such as Sentosa and the Orchard Road tourist belt.
