Gift of the Tan family, of the late Tan Ah Kang

This photograph shows the Tan family revisiting the site of their old kampong after moving to a HDB. Between the 1960s and 1980s, communities living in urban slums and rural kampongs were resettled in HDB flats, providing families with clean and modern public housing. The resettlement scheme cleared up land to develop new towns, industrial estates, expressways and other redevelopment projects.
