This photograph shows an ongoing construction over the site of a former kampong. Between the 1960s and 1980s, communities living in urban slums and rural kampongs were resettled in HDB flats, providing families with clean and modern public housing. The resettlement scheme cleared up land to develop new towns, industrial estates, expressways and other redevelopment projects.
