This is a graduation certificate for a sewing course awarded to Lim Kiok Nee (洪亚梅) by the Singapore Yi Ying Sewing and Embroidery Studio. Female education and employment opportunities increased in the post-war period, with schools and private institutions providing women and girls an education which prepared them for employment. By 1980, female participation in the labour force had increase to 44.3 percent, up from 21.6 percent in 1957.
