This is a metal ice bucket used by Tai Tong Restaurant (Da Dong Jiu Lou 大东酒楼). The restaurant was founded in 1928 and known as one of the ‘big eight’ (ba da八大) pre-war Chinese restaurants in Singapore during the 20th century. Aside from serving dimsum breakfast, Tai Tong was also known to host Chinese wedding banquets and serve Cantonese cuisine.
