Gift of Antonio and May in loving memory of Leonie Theresa Daroya Koenitz.

This wraparound skirt by Esta was owned by Leonie Koenitz, who was one of the first fashion models trained in Singapore at Joan Booty and Ruth Warner's Mannequin Training and Charm School, which opened in 1956. Esther Tay, the pioneering Singapore fashion design behind the Esta label, launched her label in 1984, which was carried at retailers such as Tangs. She was part of the "magnetic seven" group of notable Singapore fashion designers in the 1980s, with her collections found internationally at department stores such as El Corte Inglés. She is also known for designing uniforms, such as the Team Singapore attire and the cabin crew uniforms of Scoot.
