Gift of Antonio and May in loving memory of Leonie Theresa Daroya Koenitz.
This Christian Aujard blouse was owned by Leonie Koenitz, who was one of the first fashion models trained in Singapore at Joan Booty and Ruth Warner's Mannequin Training and Charm School, which opened in 1956. Christian Aujard (1945-1977) was a French designer active mostly in the late 1960s and 1970s. While the label produced ready-to-wear collections, sewing patterns for the at-home clothesmaker have also been attributed to the designer. In the 1980s, Christian Aujard designs were distributed by Guy Laroche, and licensed to Japan's Itokin Group. In Singapore, the Christian Aujard label was stocked in Isetan in the 1970s.
