Gift of Antonio and May in loving memory of Leonie Theresa Daroya Koenitz.

This black-and-white sleeveless turtleneck top was owned by Leonie Koenitz, who was one of the first fashion models trained in Singapore at Joan Booty and Ruth Warner's Mannequin Training and Charm School, which opened in 1956. This sleeveless turtleneck top features monochromatic stripes around the neck and armholes, and is a style that bears the influence of Pierre Cardin's Space Age collections of the 1960s. The care label indicates a fabric composition of 100% helenca (also known in the market as Lycra), a synthetic fabric manufactured in 1931 by Rudolph H. Kägi.
