Gift of Antonio and May in loving memory of Leonie Theresa Daroya Koenitz.
These Hanasaki jeans were owned by Leonie Koenitz, who was one of the first fashion models trained in Singapore at Joan Booty and Ruth Warner's Mannequin Training and Charm School, which opened in 1956. Flared-leg jeans, or bell bottoms, are a style of pants that feature widened legs from the knees (or calves) down to the bottom hem of the garment. While this style of trousers was highly fashionable in the 1960s-1970s, they are thought to have originated in naval uniforms in the nineteenth century. This pair of flared jeans feature button details down both sides.
