This blouse from Miss O by Oscar de la Renta was owned by Leonie Koenitz, who was one of the first fashion models trained in Singapore at Joan Booty and Ruth Warner's Mannequin Training and Charm School, which opened in 1956. Oscar de la Renta was a Dominican fashion designer. Born in Santo Domingo in 1932, he was trained by Cristóbal Balenciaga and Antonio del Castillo. He moved to New York in the 1960s to design for Elizabeth Arden. His eponymous brand, founded in 1965, was known for softer silhouettes, silk prints, and the use of ruffles. The Miss O line, represented here, was a less expensive and more commercially minded range that expanded the brand's customer base, making the quality of the brand and its house codes accessible to a larger group of younger adults. In addition to his own label, de la Renta designed the haute couture collections at the house of Balmain.
