This Chloé blouse was owned by Leonie Koenitz, who was one of the first fashion models trained in Singapore at Joan Booty and Ruth Warner's Mannequin Training and Charm School, which opened in 1956. Chloé is a fashion house founded in 1952 by Gaby Aghion, a French fashion designer. The coining of the term "prêt-à-porter" ("ready to wear" in English) is commonly attributed to Aghion, who in the 1950s saw the demand for clothing that could bring together the finesse and strict requirements of haute couture with the availability and convenience of ready-to-wear fashion. The line was launched at the Café de Flore located on the Left Bank in Paris, associated with artists, intellectuals, and progressive cultures. Chloé is known for softer, lightly structured bohemian-inspired designs. Artistic directors of the house include Karl Lagerfeld, Martine Sitbon, and Stella McCartney.
