This tortoiseshell box is crafted with engraved and pierced silver mounts and a central pending-like motif. This box has been fitted with a faux key-plate and no lock, perhaps indicative of its decorative rather than utilitarian purpose. Motifs mimicking the sepals of the Mangosteen flower are used to create silver faux rivet covers adorning the lid of the box.
