Gift of Antonio and May in loving memory of Leonie Theresa Daroya Koenitz.

This Ted Lapidus jacket was owned by Leonie Koenitz, who was one of the first fashion models trained in Singapore at Joan Booty and Ruth Warner's Mannequin Training and Charm School, which opened in 1956. Ted Lapidus was a French fashion designer often credited for being among the earliest designers to create unisex looks and incorporate elements of military dress into womenswear. Ted Lapidus gained attention in the 1960s when prominent French singers and actors, such as Alain Delon and Françoise Hardy were seen wearing clothes from the label. In the 1980s, the Ted Lapidus boutique in Singapore operated from the first floor of Lucky Plaza, along Orchard Road.
