This Benny Ong shirt was owned by Leonie Koenitz, who was one of the first fashion models trained in Singapore at Joan Booty and Ruth Warner's Mannequin Training and Charm School, which opened in 1956. Benny Ong is an established Singapore-born designer based in London. He graduated from the prestigious St. Martin's School of Art and Design in 1974 and launched his eponymous label in 1976 at the age of 27. Ong’s creations, described as glamourous yet elegant and classy, are sold at various high-end departmental stores in New York, London and the United States. He has dressed various royal personalities, including the late Princess Diana, and was also responsible for updating the staff uniforms for corporate clients such as the British Airports Authority and Singapore’s Raffles Hotel, amongst others.
