Gift of Antonio and May in loving memory of Leonie Theresa Daroya Koenitz.

This elaborately embroidered dress was made in Hong Kong for the wedding of Leonie Koenitz, one of the first fashion models trained in Singapore at Joan Booty and Ruth Warner's Mannequin Training and Charm School, which opened in 1956. The large bell sleeves, also known as terno, are a nod to the Philippine heritage of Koenitz's husband, the bandleader Jose Daroya. In a newspaper report from 1960, it was reported that the dress was custom made in Hong Kong.
