This hand-drawn diagram shows the layout and the specifications of boiler units built by Japanese firm Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries during Stage Two of Jurong Power Station's construction. Boiler units are a critical component of power stations in generating high-pressure, high-temperatured steam by burning fuel oil to heat water, which then drives turbines to yield electricity.Jurong Power Station was officially opened by then Finance Minister Goh Keng Swee in 1970. It was the fourth power plant to be built by the Public Utilities Board (PUB), in response to the high demand for electricity by industries and consumers from the 1960s. It was located in the expanding Jurong Industrial Estate to support the nation's industrialisation drive. The station's old steam plant was eventually decommissioned in 2001, while the open cycle gas turbine plant was decommissioned in 2024.
