Hung on a wall like a painting, this textile installation uses the waffle weave, a technique which creates raised threads that form rectangles. Rather than weaving a flat piece of fabric, this approach allows the artist to play with the interaction of line and colour in space, creating a ‘sculpture’ with depth. This depth can be seen in three ways: within the dense threads; in the draping of the textile; and in the changing colours across the length of the work. These variations within a systematic grid makes the work seem both structured and pliable at the same time.
