This is a pending or belt buckle, a commonly worn jewelled ornament in the Malay world, worn both by men and women as functional as they held the sarong in place, an amulet, and a status symbol all at once. Gold and bejewelled pending were also part of royal regalia. This pending is in the pending bujur lancip or pointed oval or eye-shaped design. It is chased and etched with scrolling floral designs. The inner frame is raised and shaped like a giant eight-petalled lotus. Circular light and dark green stones are set in the centre of each of the petals. Eight medium-sized green and pink gemstones are set in each segment of the core. Oval green gemstones, with the exception of four pink gemstone accents form the eye-shaped border. An inscription in jawi reading tengku daik is set in a circular medallion on the back of the buckle.
