Spiralling floral motifs decorate the badan (body) of this sarong, with smaller swirling vines making up the filler motif of the badan. The kepala (head) contains larger floral designs against a similarly-coloured background with different filler motifs of swirling vines with flowers. A vertical band runs diagonally through. The batik is signed "Nj: Oeij Kok Sing / Liem Siok Hien / Kudus", indicating that this was a collaborative piece made by Nyonya Oeij Kok Sing and her daughter Jane Hendromartono who signed under her husband's name: Liem Siok Hien. Kudus indicates that this batik was made in the Kudus style, as both batik makers lived and worked in Pekalongan. Kudus batiks typically have ochre backgrounds and meticulously rendered designs, including complicated background patterns.Nyonya Oeij Kok Sing was a second-generation batik maker in Pekalongan. She began to produce high quality batiks in the 1920s. Her batiks from the 1930s reveal great technical virtuosity and a creative use of colour, made possible by synthetic dyes from Europe. After the Second World War, her daughter Jane Hendromartono (1924–1988) took over the family batik business.
