Gift of Andrew Gn

This maxi dress features a halter neckline, glass bead embroidery and flower motifs on the skirt. This dress is part of Andrew Gn's Autumn/Winter 2018 collection. The collection was inspired by the 1967 film, Belle de Jour, and 1983 film, The Hunger that depicted the darkness behind an extravagant façade. These influences are translated to elements such as gold embroidery on black, grey, and purple fabrics. The collection also comprises of motifs of Gn’s favourite items such as ferns, peacock feathers, and 17th century mosaic print made from stones - pietra dura.Andrew Gn is one of Singapore’s most prolific fashion designers in history, achieving high levels of critical acclaim and industry success. He is the only Singaporean to be a constant feature of Paris Fashion Week since 1995. His creations are known for their elegant, feminine, maximalist aesthetics and are finely crafted, cross-cultural, and reflective of innovation in tradition in fashion. This work is part of his major gift back to Singapore.
