This CRT (cathode ray tube) colour television produced by Hitachi featuring the popular Japanese character Hello Kitty is produced in Thailand and bought in Singapore, showing the global flow of products, as well as the popularity of the Hello Kitty character in Singapore even amongst adults. CRT televisions were the most popular display technology until the 2000s, when flat LCDs (liquid crystal displays) began to replace them.
