This is a commemorative magazine celebrating the 2nd anniversary of the Chinese newspaper, Sin Chew Jit Poh (Xingzhou Ri Bao, 星洲日报). Founded on 15 January 1929 by Tiger Balm founders Aw Boon Haw and Aw Boon Par, the newspaper became one of the leading Chinese dailies in Singapore and Malaya throughout the mid-0th century. The publication was known for its editorials and fukan (副刊), which were supplements attached to the newspaper featuring non-news-related content such as literary works. This particular commemorative magazine serves as a recap of the newspaper's achievements over the last 2 years, as well as a summary of important news over the last year across Singapore, Malaya and China. The magazine also features writings on various subjects which were relevant to the Nanyang region, such as the state of Chinese education in Singapore and Malaya, Chinese translations of Richard James Wilkinson's studies on the Malay people, and the geography of the Straits Settlements. A compilation of photographs is also featured on the first few pages of magazine, featuring photos of Chiang Kai Shek and other important Chinese political leaders of that era, as well as various landscapes and scenes of everyday life across Singapore and Malaya.
