This muslin toile is for a dress from Andrew Gn’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection, ‘Voyage AGN’. Individual pieces of muslin fabrics are cut according to the paper pattern and constructed to check on the size and fitting of the garment before it is being produced in the actual fabric. Embellishments such as the floral embroidery and crystal collar are represented by actual-scale cutouts for planning their placements on the dress.Andrew Gn is one of Singapore’s most prolific fashion designers in history, achieving high levels of critical acclaim and industry success. He is the only Singaporean to be a constant feature of Paris Fashion Week since 1995. His creations are known for their elegant, feminine, maximalist aesthetics and are finely crafted, cross-cultural, and reflective of innovation in tradition in fashion. This work is part of his major gift back to Singapore.
