This late 1950s publication represents the culmination of Zubir Said’s musical career. After decades of composing music, in his biography, Puan Sri Rohana mentioned how Zubr Said wanted to teach music to younger generations. He had long believed in the system in which he was thought; the system of number notations; renamed SOLMISASI. He proceeded to work on publishing this for music schools. This publication would then be accompanied by a vinyl record, as Zubr Said sought to teach through a recording; in that recording, he was aided by Nona Asiah. Zubir Said's role as an author of music workbooks for teaching students thus holds great importance in the history of Singaporean music. As a composer deeply passionate about nurturing musical talent, Zubir Said recognized the need for accessible and comprehensive educational resources. His music workbooks served as invaluable tools for aspiring musicians, providing structured lessons and exercises that helped students learn and understand music theory, composition techniques, and performance skills. Zubir Said's workbooks not only facilitated the development of technical proficiency but also encouraged creativity and a deep appreciation for music among learners. By sharing his knowledge and expertise, Zubir Said made a lasting impact on music education in Singapore, contributing to the cultivation of a new generation of musicians. His workbooks continue to be utilized and valued by music educators and students, playing a crucial role in preserving and passing on the rich musical heritage of Singapore. Zubir Said's dedication to music education and his contributions through these workbooks have shaped the landscape of music learning in Singapore and left an indelible mark on its history
