In Malaysia and Singapore, these were known as kasut kodok (frog slippers), kasut beridong (nose slippers), and kasut tongkang (bumboat slippers). They generally curve upwards at the toe to varying degrees; the curve tends to be less accentuated in Singapore and Malaysia. A half-moon toe piece stitched to the vamp (top part of the shoe, covering the toes), contributes to their distinctive shape. Until the 1900s, flat-nose slippers were the most prevalent form of Nyonya slippers. This pair is decorated with glass beads and flora embroidery.
