This pack contains a bundle of tiny glass beads in blue. They were often used to embellish objects made in preparation for a wedding. In addition to shops, Nyonyas could also buy beads and other beadwork supplies from the itinerant haberdasher, also known as the ‘jarong man’, who travelled from house to house hawking his wares. Examples in this group demonstrate the variety of colours and bead types available to embroiderers in Singapore.
