This is a pair of slipper faces with incomplete beadwork. Outlines of slippers faces were drawn onto the cloth base, using ink or chalk. The motifs were then embroidered to create designs and patterns on the slipper faces. The slipper faces would have been sent to Chinese shoemakers to be cut out from the frame and made into the final product.
