This A-line sleeveless mini dress features a pair of epaulettes that resemble pagoda rooves. Finely embroidered in satin stitch, the motifs of mega mendung clouds, peony, chrysanthemum, and phoenix marry Indonesian and Peranakan influences with vibrant colours. It comes from Andrew Gn’s Spring/Summer 2003 collection which was the grand finale of the Singapore Fashion Festival 2003 and his first runway presentation in his home country. Andrew Gn is one of Singapore’s most prolific fashion designers in history, achieving high levels of critical acclaim and industry success. He is the only Singaporean to be a constant feature of Paris Fashion Week since 1995. His creations are known for their elegant, feminine, maximalist aesthetics and are finely crafted, cross-cultural, and reflective of innovation in tradition in fashion. This work is part of his major gift back to Singapore.
