This covered box has a lotus bud knobbed lid and is decorated with vegetal scroll designs in brown on a creamy white background. Covered boxes were one of the most representative type of Sawankhalok wares produced. Large quantities of ceramics were made at Sukhothai and Sawankhalok kilns for export to Southeast Asia and beyond during the 14th to 16th centuries.
