This crescent-shaped hairpin contains 24 pave-set, old European cut and Swiss cut diamonds. Two loops are soldered on each end to allow smaller pins to be threaded through, ensuring that the gold and diamond hairpin is securely fastened to a hair bun. This group of hairpins were designed by Tan Chong Beng (1908-1975) and given to his wife, Lee Chuan Neo (1912-1989). They are part of a group of heirloom jewellery that were passed down from Lee to her only child, Mona Tan (b. 1945).
