The sada is an ikat textile made by the Nagé Kéo people from Central Flores. Men wore the sada as a hip-wrapper or draped over one’s shoulder. The textiles made by the Nagé Kéo people are distinct—they usually comprise of several bands of white ikat patterns on an indigo background, interspersed with several red bands made of striped patterns. There are certain taboos which the Nagé Kéo people adhered to in weaving such sacred textiles. For example, women may not partake in any weaving activities when the men were out hunting or fighting in wars.
