This is an exquisite example of an oddiyanam or waist belt in plain gold with embossed detail, two animal themed panels on either side of the bucklewhich is decorated with a kirtimukha. Waist belts such as this would form part of a Tamil bride’s attire as well as the costume of classical dancers,worn to keep the sari in place.
