Among the thousands of Changsha bowls on board, only a few have designs that do not belong to standard categories. This bowl sports one of such unique designs. They might be the product of individual whim or perhaps samples of new designs not yet produced in large quantities. The design on this bowl reflects the popularity of Buddhism in the region. The swastika symbols suggest that this building is a Buddhist stupa (shrine). The swastika is often used in Buddhist scriptures to signify good fortune.
