This is a simple checked pink kebaya from the 1930s. There are also floral motifs that run along the sleeves and lapel of the piece. This is one of the earlier examples of the introduction of colour to the kebayas. The kebaya is a loose open jacket worn by Peranakan women of the Straits Settlements, Indonesia and Indo- European women of the late 19th to 20th century.
