Ar Rahman (The Compassionate)

This painting, by artist Sharifah Zuriah Aljeffri, features an attribute of God, 'Al-Rahman', which means The Merciful. It is one in a series of calligraphic paintings done during the Bosnian crisis in 1992.Sharifah Zuriah Aljeffri is the first Malay artist to paint in the Chinese brush technique in Malaysia. In her works on nature and Arabic calligraphy, signs and images become acts of spiritual contemplation or interpretation of social-political issues, such as atrocities committed through war.
