A small carved bamboo figure of an old starving arhat. His dramatic body is carved with rib-cage, making his rosary beads disproportionately large by comparision. The arhat has a meditative expression on his face, which is angular with protruding cheekbones, due to starving. The figure has been carved out of a piece of bamboo with remarkable skill, and would be an object for self-motivation, or admiring in a scholar’s study.
